Trish Van Bolderen, PhD

Trish Van Bolderen is the founder of BolderWords. She is also its principal reviser and translator.

With a Fine Arts degree in Dance, a master’s and PhD in Translation Studies, and more than 20 years’ professional experience in writing, translating and revising, Trish brings a high level of skill, instinct and insight to every writing project.

She is fluent in French and Spanish, in addition to English, and has first-hand knowledge of a number of linguistic and cultural contexts. Raised in an Anglophone household in the Canadian province of Ontario, Trish grew up in the French-language school system of Simcoe County’s minority Francophone community. As an adult, she has deepened her knowledge of French, extended her linguistic repertoire to include Spanish, and lived in several parts of Canada (the Greater Toronto Area, Acadia, the National Capital Region) as well as in France and Ireland.

Personable and reliable, Trish has expertise working with texts from a wide range of areas within the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors.

Trish is an active Translation Studies scholar as well as a member of the Canadian Association for Translation Studies (CATS), the International Association for Translation and Intercultural Studies (IATIS), the European Society for Translation Studies (EST), and the Association for Translators and Interpreters Ireland (ATII), for which she serves on the executive committee as Honorary Secretary.
